Janet Torres is a mission-driven leader with a proven record of designing and implementing impact strategies across nonprofit, government, and private sectors. With deep expertise in nonprofit management, policy development, and government/community relations, Janet has driven measurable results throughout her career.

Janet served as Senior Director of Development at The SAFE Alliance in Austin, leading cross-functional teams in individual giving, major gifts, events, and corporate relations, and supporting marketing strategy. She previously served as CEO of the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas, where she expanded programming and launched innovative workforce initiatives.

Janet’s experience spans a diverse set of leadership roles, including Executive Director of The Kindness Campaign, and Director of Partnership Development at Kimbia, where she helped lead one of the largest national online giving days. She also held senior positions in premier cultural institutions like Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The New York Botanical Garden and the Wildlife Conservation Society, where she successfully secured millions in public funding and led high-profile advocacy campaigns.

Her public sector experience includes pivotal roles in state and city government, including Senior Policy Analyst for the New York State Governor’s Office, Legislative Counsel and Director of Policy for the New York City Council, and as Director of Policy Development in the New York State Senate. Throughout her public service, Janet drove transformational policy reforms, budget advocacy, and community investment strategies.

Janet holds a Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration from Fordham University. She is fluent in Spanish and actively involved in her community, serving on the advisory board of Strength Through Strides, and previously as a board member for Workforce Solutions Capital Area and Silicon Hills Academy.
