The Day of Gratitude (TDG) is a transformative nonprofit movement dedicated to inspiring individuals, communities, and organizations to embrace the “Big Three” values: Kindness, Compassion, and Gratitude.

TDG is a global call to action - a 31-day journey that begins every year on August 20th with an intentional reflection and culminates in a powerful celebration on World Gratitude Day, September 21st. Through daily practice and community engagement, TDG fosters a ripple effect of positivity, human connection, and emotional well-being across the world.

TDG provides free and accessible tools that encourage the daily practice of gratitude and hosts in-person/virtual events that inspire & empower people to actively practice gratitude. This movement is rooted in the enduring legacy of Nihal Charmani, whose name means “to give gratitude.” Though Nihal was taken from us at just 22, his life of joy, compassion, and purpose continues to inspire a generation to build a more connected and caring world. The Day of Gratitude honors the life and legacy of Nihal Charmani, born on August 20, 2001 - who embodied kindness, compassion, and gratitude.

A Celebration of Impact

TDG will convene 300+ community leaders, business owners, changemakers, and elected officials 3rd Saturday of August every year in Austin, Texas, for an unforgettable evening of inspiration, connection, and collective action. This annual event amplifies our mission by uniting those who are committed to creating lasting impact through gratitude.

Together, we are not just reflecting on what we’re thankful for—we’re building a movement that transforms the way we live, lead, and lift up others.

Our Vision
