Hannah Thornton
Food Access Director, Sustainable Food Center
Hannah Thornton Hannah Thornton is a nonprofit leader, educator, and advocate for just, equitable food systems. She serves as Senior Director of Food Access and Education at Sustainable Food Center in Austin, TX, where she leads a statewide program increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables for over 100,000 Texans.
Previously, Hannah served as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Dietetic Internship Director at Texas State University, where she founded the University's on-campus, student-run food pantry and led initiatives aimed at diversifying the nutrition workforce. Hannah is a registered dietitian with degrees in biology and nutrition from Smith College, Florida International University, and Texas State University.
She has received awards for teaching and service and has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications. Hannah is passionate about driving systemic change to improve the availability and affordability of high quality, nutritious food for all communities.
She brings to The Day of Gratitude a strong commitment to community health and compassionate leadership - amplifying the movement’s mission to build a kinder, more equitable world through gratitude and action.
